Sui Southern’s unique logic for recovery from defaulters

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has adopted a new approach for recovery from defaulters, which has met with a lot of interest. The company has requested Rs 1 billion to withdraw funds from the defaulters.

According to News, Sui Southern has made receivables of Rs 10 billion subject to provision of Rs 1 billion.

Sui Southern Gas Company has sought Rs 72.1 million for recoveries from disconnected customers and Rs 35.9 million for recoveries from running defaulters in its application submitted to OGRA.

The petition states that the number of domestic defaulters in the Sui Southern administration areas is increasing, hence the defaulters cannot be reached due to limited resources.

The gas company says in the application that they cannot reach the defaulters in Sindh and Balochistan.

Sui Southern has maintained that due to lack of action against defaulters, the arrears are increasing every year, hence there are difficulties in recovering even from disconnected gas customers.

Sui Southern wants to outsource the collection of dues on which Ogra has sought details of meter disconnections and reconnections of all categories.
