Pakistan’s first tight gas project begins production

There is good news for the country’s economy from the energy sector. Production started from Pakistan’s first tight gas project.

OGDCL has started production from the project in Sajawal district of Sindh. 1.5 million cubic feet of gas per day is being obtained from Norwest Well-1 Sjawal.

According to the spokesperson of OGDCL, gas has been added to the Sui Southern network. OGDCL is committed to increase the energy resources in the country.

It should be noted that on July 8 this year, after the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government established an 18-member high-level committee to invest 5 billion dollars in the energy sector and gave 12 important tasks.

The committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was directed to submit the report within 3 weeks. The high-level committee includes 6 federal ministers, 6 federal secretaries and chairman FBR, while representatives of oil and gas companies will also be a part of it.

The decision of the committee was made in the energy sector meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The committee will prepare proposals to resolve the revolving credit in the gas sector while reviewing the financial system to attract investment.

The 18-member committee will implement the Petroleum Policy 2012 and the Tight Gas Policy 2024, prepare proposals for benchmarking port charges for LNG cargoes, while the Petroleum Division will provide secretariat support to the committee.

Yesterday, petroleum and gas exploration and production companies announced an investment of 5 billion dollars in the next three years in Pakistan.
