America: Is this color on the tree a message of death?

In fact, purple on trees, fences or other objects refers to a law, in many US states it means stay away from here, or don’t go any further from here. This sign indicates private property, by which the owners of the place legally signal to hikers, hunters and others to stay off their private property.
In such a place, heavily armed landowners may attack a stranger on their property, as it is common in the United States to mark their territory with heavy weapons.
