Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior, Qazi explained that the delay in passport printing was due to malfunctioning machinery.

However, approval has been given for new e-passport equipment, and six additional printers will be introduced to speed up the process.

He stressed that the delay in passport printing would be managed effectively, all related concerns would be resolved within the month. Additionally, new counters have been set up at passport offices to improve service efficiency.

The DG highlighted that the existing passport system, which was 20 years old, relied on 20 old printers, of which 13 were still functioning. A previous problem with lamination paper, exacerbated by the fluctuating dollar, has now been resolved.
